Licensed by the original Romanian record label Electrecord and produced from the original master tapes, this new CD, has been reorganized into the order in which it was likely performed and contains a previously unreleased instrumental overture. The booklet contains photos taken of the actual performance and an English translation of the original show program. Not to be confused with the mid-'90s bootleg, inappropriately called Live in Russia, that was made from a cassette copy of the vinyl recording or the 2013 CD and LP with different cover art, this Recital was made from the original masters!

This release was produced by SunVirgin.com's creator Don Pierson and was released by ESP-disk which, for this 2012 reissue, includes several corrections to the booklet. Cover photo and booklet photos of the original 1961 performance are from the Yma Sumac Archives.
