The songs on Fuego del Ande are South American or Peruvian in origin and all are legitimate: huaynos (the oldest form represented), tonderos, marineros and waltzes.  Too bad they are completely ruined by the arrangements.  Any simple beauty of composition is destroyed by inadequate arrangements, cheap instrumental effects provincial supporting forces, a busy use of an incongruous electric guitar and a commercialized, overly-slick, presentation.  Overdubbing is now a matter of course and used ad-nauseum.
